How often is too often to tell you to take care of your hands? We use them every day in and out of the gym, and I would like to think they are a priority to everyone… but Angie, “AMRP Angie” and Murph will all do a number to your hands if you haven’t kept up with your daily care. So how is it done?
1. Preparation – what you can do before coming into the gym
2. During a WOD – how to keep an existing blister/rip from getting worse
3. Maintenance – what you should be doing every day
Grab a pumice stone and some lotion. Use the pumice stone after you shower when your skin is soft to keep the sharp edges on your hands at bay and follow up with some lotion to keep your paws from drying out.
What tools and secret potions do you use to keep your hands pretty?
SKILL/STRENGTH
Ring Dips
WOD
3 Power Snatches
5 Lateral Burpees
7 T2B

After a few more days of pullups, I decided to go back to see what else I could do for my tender hands. One thing I use (instead of a dremel is “Pedipaws”. While it’s marketed as a tool for filing pet’s nails, it works quite well for sanding calluses. (I gave up on using it on my cats
. My old one stopped working and I just picked up another at PetCo for $11.99. I think it works great.
A Pedipaw works just like a Dremel and saves you a little money if you only plan to use it on your hands.
Yeah, information to be treasured.
