Lean in…

“You’re only going to get as much as you put it into it.” I bet you even tried to explain this idea to somebody else when asked about CrossFit or the Whole Life Challenge. Your parents explained it to you and now you find yourself echoing the same sentiment to your little ones. It still amazes me how often we all need to be reminded of this simple truth. I myself was reminded of this today because of my sub-stellar approach to the business side of P3. The only way P3 will evolve to the epic-ness I see in my head is if I “Lean in” to the business every single day to make it better than the day before. And for that reminder I would like to thank Coach Dan, he doesn’t even know what he did or how but I know that by having him as part of the gym it is only going to make P3 better.

So your reminder for the day: You are a student of P3 CrossFit the school of elite fitness, not the come as you want and do as you want Globo Gym down the street. When you are instructed to perform a task, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable it is, you make it happen. There are no excuses, there are no deadline extensions, there is no easy way around it and the bare minimum will not suffice. You have to give it more than what you think is necessary to gain anything of substance. So I ask you all to “Lean in” become a bigger part of the program, ask questions and demand answers of your coaches, do your homework (mobility/nutrition/rest/recover), don’t hide in the corner or try to justify showing up late, be accountable for yourself and become even greater than you imagined.

I’m tired of being nice about it. I like all of you, but this is what I have to say to you that aren’t on the edge of your metaphorical CrossFit seats because the rest of us are going places.

Good post, John. This reminder is good. I have to tell myself that the goal is NOT to keep lifting the same #’s for weeks and months, or move at the same pace as I always have. I need to push myself to better every time I walk in. So thanks for the reminder. I will try not to disappoint.

I remember a post from years ago, when the message was: All the growth comes after the point of ‘I can’t possibly do one more.’

    Great post John

When I started at P3 I was unable to do any pull-ups and had to use a green band and blue band to do them.

I have been working on pull-ups more and more and put my own pull-up bar in my garage.

Coach Dan helped me by giving me a link and guiding me on how to get better.

Today I am able to get several unassisted pull-ups in a row and am forever greatful!

    Thanks P3 and coaches!

Great post John! Or did Dan write this blog?

This is all kinds of awesome. Good post.

The coaches and everybody at P3 are extremely motivating for me, and I’m thankful to be a part of this group.

I will be away for a couple of weeks and am going to miss the coaching and encouragement / push that y’all provide … But I will stay committed, keep “Leaning In”, and do work to get better & stronger while away, and keep it up when I get back.

Great post John. Thanks for the reminder.

I am so glad that I took a friend’s advice and came over to check out P3 two years ago. John tried to scare me away with the Nasty Girls video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0nPnElcqgU

…but I watched it and thought, wow….I want to be able to do that some day! I know that if I keep “leaning in” and working on that muscle up I will get there!

P.S. The P3 coaches are the best!

Without the dedicated P3 coaches and Crossfit, I would still be a weak, out of shape, middle aged mom on the brink of obesity. Each of you have inspired me to dig deeper for one more rep, add more weight, get the PR and kill the WOD. Thank you for being part of my transformation journey.

It seems like there is an awful lot of meditation going on this week….

I can say without a doubt that it was the reputation of the P3 coaches that got me to switch from the box I was at to here. I’ve told you this John, but a friend/on ramp coach of mine that got me started in CrossFit told me that the coaches at P3 have a more “agressive” coaching style. I said “THAT’S what I want!”

Thank you John, Kristy, Dan and Haley as well as the other long-time members that have pushed me! Keep pushing!!
