The article of the stages of food grief hit me hard….I’ve been totally going through those stages…the most current stage I’m in is sadness–I’m mourning the loss of my junk diet–almost felt like crying at one point. Goodbye chocolate croissants on Thursdays! One day at a time….
Tricia, I know how you feel. I’m in the beginning stages of cleaning up my diet and I can’t help but feel like I’m in a 12 step program. “Hello everyone, my name is Yogi and its been 3 days since my last complex carbohydrate”. The most difficult part is the feeling that I deserve a sugary treat. It’s been a long day, I worked out, how much could it hurt.
To my own credit I baked cookies with my daughters this evening and did’nt eat a single one. Small triumphs….
Good luck
Are there any other vegans or vegetarians at P3? If so, wanna exchange nutrition tips?
I get stuck in the ‘Bargaining’ stage of food grief. I started the whole30 thing about 10 days ago, but have already tripped up 2x with the sweets that parade through the office kitchen area. It happened after tough morning workouts, and I found myself making the ‘bargain’ that I either deserved it, or it really wouldn’t matter much.
So here I am again, back on day 3 of 30. The biggest weapon I need to use against making the Bargain, is just to eat MORE of the good stuff. Keep myself full, to not be attracted by the sweet stuff.
Mary – Off the top of my head I think we have 3 vegetarian/vegans in our mix and we also have 1 or 2 vegetarians by default because of their significant others… I will poke at them and see if they are willing to come out to the world on their own or I might just have to out them myself!
Mary, Im one of the lone vegetarians in the bunch. Id be happy to exchange some yummy recipes with you. I kinda dont know who you are so Ill give John the green light to send you my email.
Yogi–thanks for the words of encouragement. My husband says I am a classic carboholic–but that Im on my way….maybe we need sponsors/paleo buddies to keep up in check!
Tricia- Sounds familiar… http://www.p3crossfit.com/2011/10/did-somebody-help-you-get-10-rounds/
