Let the snatch jokes begin

Some random things I’ve read recently on Olympic lifting:

Defending Olympic Lifting Movements for Athletes, Strongmen, and Powerlifters

Why You Should Olympic Lift

The safety of Olympic lifting has been documented in several studies. One study has shown that Olympic lifting has the lowest number of injuries per 100hrs trained compared to both bodybuilding and powerlifting. Olympic lifting is often trained very intensely and with a much greater frequency than a bodybuilding routine.
-Brian P. Hamill, “Relative Safety of Weightlifting and Weight Training,” Journal of Strength Conditioning Research, Vol. 8, No. 1(1994): 53-57.

In a study done by Stone, Wilson, Blessing and Rozenek, athletes performed an Olympic lift for eight straight weeks, and it was found that the athletes’ resting heart rate decreased by 8%, systolic blood pressure decreased by 4%, lean body weight increased by 4% and body fat dropped by 6%.

    Hehe…..he said snatch.

  2. Stephen says:

Ok, I’ll start… I’m glad to finally be doing snatches. I was getting tired of jerks. Next!

  3. Mac says:

Nice one, Stephen. My snatch stinks. On a different topic – John, here is the link for all the golfers at P3 who don’t appreciate the value of back squats. It also emphasizes ‘hip mobility’, too. The article you posted yesterday had some good links to hip mobility exercises.

  4. David U says:

Mac, I used to love golf but I find snatches much more interesting and fun. In addition, golf takes 4 hours where as snatches only take a few minutes. Thanks for the article though.

  5. Yogi says:

Do you guys know the difference between a pick pocket and a peeping tom?
    A pick pocket SNATCHES WATCHES…….

  6. Becky says:

Ok what time does Yogi work out I need to join that class… yesterday was my first experience with snatch but I quite liked it… although today I’m a little sore…

  7. John says:

Becky did you wear out your snatch?

  8. Jeff S. says:

    Yogi’s a nooner.

  9. Nancy says:

It’s great entertainment sharing a gym with so many Beevis and Buttheads.

  10. veronica says:

A bunch of jerks trying to get good snatches. It is sad at P3.

  11. What’s Up P3 CF? Thanks for taking care of our boy Mark W. The 4PM class was asking for him – he’s been a great addition to our team. Definitely most improved in the shortest period of time! That boy is ALL HEART. Mental toughness goes a long way! Keep up the great work – your WODS look awesome. We welcome visitors from your box any time!
